Thomas Hardcastle was born in Boston and raised in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties. He is currently a resident of Ojai, California where he paints and takes an active role in visual arts.

Over the course of 25 years, Hardcastle has had the opportunity to study under a variety of masters in a community rich with talent including Gerd Koch, Carlos Grasso, Mariana Peirano, Bert Collins, Jennifer Moses and Hiroko Yoshimoto.

Shows of note include solo exhibitions at the Ojai Art Center, Ventura County Museum of Art, juried group exhibitions including New Orleans Academy of Fine Art, Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, St. Augustine Art Association and the Santa Paula Art Museum.

Hardcastle’s pastel work has been included in a number of national shows - the 2011 Oglethorpe Museum in Atlanta, the 2012 Degas Society Biennial in New Orleans, award, the 2016 ,2021 and 2023 Degas Society Biennial, the Pastel Society of the West Coast 2018 National Exhibition, the Pikes Peak Pastel National 2020 ,award, the Pastel Guild of Europe International 2020 ,award, and most recently accepted into the 2024 Anti -War show @ Exhibizone International. He is also an exhibiting member of the Pastel Society of the Gold Coast, the Degas Society - Santa Barbara Association, the Pastel Society of America and a Signature Member of Artists for Conservation.
